Hi. I’m Kayla.
I believe that counselling is an opportunity to explore the parts of ourselves and our stories that day-to-day life doesn’t always allow. It is my hope to provide a therapeutic environment that invites exploration, and that opens the door to personal growth.
I have been a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers since 2014. In that time, I have worked in a variety of settings in the areas of residential care, mental health, and higher education. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and an Honours Bachelor of Social Work from Algoma University. I went on to complete a Master of Social Work from McMaster University in Hamilton.
I enjoy the process of finding meaning and drawing connections together in the stories that unfold in session. As an integrative therapist, I draw on existential, feminist, humanistic, structural, and systemic approaches; folding in techniques from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) and Gottman Method Couples Counselling.
When I am not counselling, I am engaging in creative projects, trekking through nature on skis or by foot, and spending quiet time with loved ones.
If you can see my approach working for you, I would love to meet you!
